Oulu-based Start Up -Company Spektikor has concluded supply agreement with NATO. Disposable heart rate indicator developed by the company has been approved into the logistic system of NATO, and is available for NATO- counties and its partner countries.
“In practice, NATO came at a time quite a large distributor to us. Through the system, our products are available in all NATO and partner countries. In large quantities NATO can order products centrally and distribute them forward, “says CEO Kari Kivistö.
The Finnish Defense Forces have decided to equip Crisis Management forces with Spektikor devices. Crisis Management forces are currently serving for example in Afghanistan and Lebanon.
“Deliveries are during the summer and the plan is that the product can be found in every man’s pocket,” said the Army Chief Medical Officer Matti Lehesjoki.
Spektikor’s heart rate indicator indicates the patient’s heart rate level with different colors, in which case the medical person detect reduced or increased quickly.
“Initial reactions in crisis areas have been enthusiastic. The invention is brilliant in its simplicity. Under field conditions, for example during transport, heart rate tracking of several patients is not very easy when it is dark, bumpy and noisy “, Lehesjoki more.
Spektikor was founded at Oulu Yritystakomo in 2010. The product has been developed and tested together with the Oulu University Hospital, the Finnish Defense Forces, and the Finnish Red Cross and Oulu-Koilismaa Rescue Department. The product received Pharmaceutical device approval in December 2012.
